Anuja Ghorpade joined Baptist Health Sciences University as provost and vice president of academic affairs/chief academic officer. She has more than 30 years of experience in higher education and biomedical programs.
“It is my privilege to have the opportunity to lead academic affairs at Baptist Health Sciences University as we educate health care leaders of the future,” said Anuja.
Anuja comes to BHSU from Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences in Albany, New York, where she was dean and vice president of academic affairs and chief academic officer. She started new academic programs and was instrumental in the reorganization of the college from three schools to one college. She also helped the college achieve a perfect accreditation record and led the school through the pandemic to successfully deliver student-centered outcomes.
Anuja also served as vice president of research and innovation at the University of North Texas Health Science Center at Fort Worth in Texas, where she was a tenured professor and chair of the department of cell biology and anatomy at the graduate school of biomedical sciences. She is the author of more than 85 peer-reviewed articles published in scholarly journals, and helped secure more than $13 million in National Institutes of Health Research Grants (R series) funding over 15 consecutive years.
Anuja earned her Ph.D. in life sciences from the National Institute of Immunology in New Delhi, India. She also holds a Master of Science in biotechnology from Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda, Gujarat, India, and a Bachelor of Science in microbiology from the University of Bombay, Mumbai, India.
