Baptist Memorial Health Care Foundation recently hosted a scholarship luncheon celebrating 115 Baptist Health Sciences University (BHSU) students who received academic awards for the 2024–2025 school year. The annual luncheon brought together scholarship recipients, donors, faculty, staff and leaders from Baptist and BHSU.
“The BHSU Annual Scholarship Luncheon is always a heartwarming celebration,” said BHSU Director of Development Sherita Martin. “We come together to express our deepest gratitude to our generous donors and recognize the scholarship recipients for their hard work and academic accomplishments. We look forward to this event each year, as it serves as a powerful reminder of the impact of scholarship support.”
Baptist’s President and CEO Jason Little expressed gratitude to donors and recognized how their contributions play a significant role in shaping the future of health care professionals.
Associate Professor and Program Chair of Nuclear Medicine Technology Donna Mars, Ed.D., who graduated from BHSU in 1996, reflected on the legacy of Baptist’s educational programs and their positive impact on her professional career and those of many other graduates.
BHSU President Hampton Hopkins, Ed.D., led a panel discussion that allowed scholarship recipients to share their testimonials. Several students spoke about the importance of their scholarships, including Carmen Maldonado, a neurodiagnostic technology student; Kenyon Page, a nursing student; and Thomas Shapaker, a BHSU College of Osteopathic Medicine student. They expressed gratitude for the financial support that is helping them pursue their dreams and contribute to the health care field.
