BHSU Honors Faculty and Staff at Convocation

Baptist Health Sciences University held its annual Faculty and Staff Honors Convocation on Monday, March 3. The convocation recognizes the outstanding achievements of faculty and staff in scholarly, professional and community service areas.

BHSU President Hampton Hopkins, Ed.D., welcomed faculty, staff and students gathered for the ceremony and announced the 2025 Rose Temple Distinguished Faculty recipient, Christina Davis, Ph.D., assistant professor of pharmacology at Baptist Health Sciences University College of Osteopathic Medicine. President Hopkins also announced Adjunct Faculty Instructor William Tuttle, who holds a Doctor of Science in health care leadership, as the 2025 Rose Temple Distinguished Adjunct of the Year.

The 2024 Rose Temple Distinguished Faculty recipient, Briana Jegier, Ph.D., served as featured speaker for the convocation. Other speakers highlighted areas of accomplishments in scholarship, research, publications, community service and professional service. Faculty and staff who completed either a doctorate or a master’s degree and individuals receiving promotions in the past year were also recognized.

Dean of Nursing Cathy Stepter congratulated Assistant Professor of Nursing Allyson Smith as the 2025 Faculty DAISY Award recipient. The award was created in 1999 by the family of Patrick Barnes, who wanted to thank nurses everywhere by establishing a recognition program. The DAISY Award, which stands for Diseases Attacking the Immune System, was established in Patrick’s memory to recognize nurses for their compassion and kindness, as well as their clinical skill. The organization grew to offer the Faculty DAISY Award, which honors faculty for their dedication and motivation to students and the nursing profession.
