Baptist Memorial Hospital-Union City held an “Oscars” celebration in October, complete with a red-carpet walk, desserts, trophies, costumes and glamorous photos. The event honored team members for the care they provide and included an educational component that reviewed patient safety goals and OSCAR, Baptist’s reporting tool for documenting and managing hospital safety events.
“The ‘Oscars’ was a collaborative partnership between multiple departments to engage, encourage and create an environment of fun,” said Chaplain Michael Dennison, director of pastoral care for Baptist Union City. “We wanted our team to relax and shine like stars. The event was a huge success and filled with laughter and comradery.”
Masquerade Theatre, a group that performs six shows annually at the Capitol Theatre in Union City, and local churches and businesses provided theatrical props to bolster the experience. Nursing Staff Development Coordinator India Lewis designed the set.
During the event, Skipper Bondurant, hospital administrator/CEO, praised team members for the care they provide each day and said they deserved “Oscar” recognition.
