Two Baptist Memorial hospitals recently announced their Service First Champions, who were recognized for their compassion and teamwork.
Baptist Tipton honored Candace Currie, RN in Surgery, as a Service First Champion. Candace’s nomination described her as “always smiling and full of joy.” Candace is celebrated not only for providing comfort and support to patients during the surgery process, but also for helping to brighten the days for her fellow team members.
“She likes to make a connection with her patients and help them with their anxiety, typically by relating with them or by making them laugh. Our patients will ask for her or where she is if they don’t see her. I have only heard positive comments from our patients about Candace in the year that she has worked here,” said the nomination.
Baptist Union County named Keighly Nanney, RN at the Women’s Center, as a Service First Champion for the quarter. Several team members nominated her for going above and beyond by volunteering to help in the Emergency Department during a busy shift.
One team member wrote, “Keighly took initiative and voluntarily came to the Emergency Department to help us meet the needs of patients.” Another colleague wrote, “Keighly showed great teamwork by coming to another department without being asked to help.”
“Keighly’s compassion for others exemplifies what a Service First Champion should be. Outstanding team members like Keighly truly make a difference,” said James Grantham, CEO and administrator at Baptist Union County.
