Foundry’s CSO honored Baptist Technology Services (BTS) at the 2024 CSO Conference & Awards, held Monday, Oct. 21 through Wednesday, Oct. 23 in Fort McDowell, Arizona. Baptist earned the CSO Award for its efforts to ensure Baptist’s medical record system would remain available and operational after a natural or cybersecurity disaster. BTS worked collaboratively to design, test and implement a secondary disaster recovery solution, which has been providing dependable and secure medical record services for more than a year.

The CSO Award is given to a select group of organizations that have implemented security projects and initiatives demonstrating outstanding business value and thought leadership. Seth Fogie, interim information security director for Baptist, attended the conference and accepted the award, presented by Bob Bragdon, emeritus publisher of CSO Magazine and CSO Online.

BTS initiated the project to protect Baptist’s data center from environmental risks related to fault, flood and tornado zones, as well as cybersecurity risks associated with malicious attacks such as ransomware. The goal of the project is to protect the 4 million patient records in Baptist’s tristate area.

“Our team is excited to be recognized by technology security industry leader CSO for our efforts to protect Baptist Memorial Health Care and millions of patients from security threats caused by natural disasters and any other means,” said Tom Barnett, vice president/chief information and digital officer for Baptist Memorial. “This award represents the dedication and resourcefulness of the entire technology services team who work diligently to ensure continuity of care processes despite the increasingly dangerous cybersecurity threats we face.”
