Baptist recently participated in back-to-school community events, including the Back-to-School Bash and Legacy Supply Giveaway on Saturday, Aug. 3 at the Memphis Sports and Events Center and the Crittenden County Cares Inaugural Community Initiative on Saturday, Aug. 10 at the Boys & Girls Club of Crittenden County. Baptist Memorial Hospital-Union County also hosted its annual Back-to-School Health Fair on Saturday, July 20.
At the Memphis event, attended by more than 3,000 students and parents, Baptist team members, including Chief Human Resources and Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Officer Walter Banks, were on hand to give out school supplies. Baptist Cancer Center providers helped attendees navigate the MEGA Colon, a walk-through, interactive educational experience. Prior to this event, Baptist also donated 300 backpacks to Manassas High School students.
More than 500 community members participated in the Crittenden County Cares event, which featured NEA Baptist Memorial Hospital’s mobile health unit. The unit’s staff completed 10 mammograms, while Baptist Memorial Hospital-Crittenden team members provided CPR demonstrations.
The Baptist Union County Back-to-School Health Fair included more than 430 participants and 30 exhibitors. It featured free school supplies and education on nutrition and how to avoid spreading germs, as well as car seat and fire safety. Attendees also had the opportunity to view emergency response vehicles.
