Baptist Recognizes Service First Champions

Baptist Memorial Hospital-Booneville, Corporate, NEA Baptist Memorial Hospital and Baptist Memorial Hospital-Union County recently recognized Service First Champions for their dedication, kindness and willingness to go above and beyond.

Baptist Booneville honored Speech Therapist Alex Gregory for her dedication to patient care. Alex assisted a patient’s family when they arrived at an incorrect entrance for the emergency department. She, along with another team member, recognized the need for assistance and rushed to help. Alex was praised for her “quick thinking and proactive response,” which made a difference in the patient’s care and helped a distressed family member.

Corporate recognized Senior Cash Posting Specialist Kristina Laiche as a Service First Champion for her support of an anxious patient. The patient’s daughter nominated Kristina after she arranged for a therapy dog visit from Mid- South Therapy Dogs & Friends. The daughter asked Kristina for information about the therapy dog group around 8 a.m., and four hours later, a therapy dog named Ben was visiting her mother. She said the visit raised her mother’s spirits tremendously. “She could have easily given me a number to call, but without any prompting, Kristina went out of her way to make the visit happen,” said the nominator.

NEA Baptist named two Service First Champions. Social Worker Debbie Eberwein was recognized for going above and beyond to assist a patient who had experienced a heat stroke. The patient had no working air conditioner at home, so Debbie contacted a manager at the Home Depot, who agreed to donate a portable air conditioning unit, which Debbie delivered to the patient.

NEA Baptist recognized Physician Referral Specialist Karen Everett for her kindness and dedication. The nominator said, “Karen tackles referrals and answers phone calls to assist with the call center daily. She also helps when other departments reach out concerning specialties she doesn’t handle. The kindness she has shown since the first day she started is like no other.”

Baptist Union County recognized Registered Nurse Hope Conlee for going above and beyond for a challenging patient. Hope works in the outpatient surgery department, but she provided compassionate care to an anxious patient even after the patient had transferred to another unit. The nominator noted, “Hope is a kind and caring soul who is a source of joy with a positive attitude that you can count on every day. She always sees the best in people.”
