Several Baptist pharmacists in Mississippi recently received recognition or were elected to serve as leaders for state and national professional associations. Phil Ayers, manager of Clinical Pharmacy Services at Mississippi Baptist Medical Center, began his term as president of the American Society of Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition (ASPEN) in June.

“I am proud of our many pharmacy leaders who are serving in state and regional leadership roles for professional associations,” said Jillian Foster, pharmacy administrator for Baptist Memorial Health Care. “We are very fortunate to have Phil’s leadership at a national level with ASPEN. Our organization and our patients benefit from the service of all of these leaders.”

The Mississippi Society of Health System Pharmacists (MSHP) recognized Hope Welch, pharmacist at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle, as MSHP Health-System Pharmacist of the Year for 2023.

The following Baptist pharmacists were recently elected as board members for MSHP:

  • MSHP President-Elect LeAnn Scott, clinical pharmacy specialist and residency program director at MBMC
  • MSHP Secretary Jessica Everitt, clinical pharmacy specialist at MBMC
  • MSHP Central Region Vice President Lauren Breite, clinical pharmacy specialist at MBMC
  • MSHP Legislative Affairs Chair Phil Ayers

MSHP named Natalie Montgomery, pharmacist at Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi, as an MSHP Fellow.
