Baptist Anderson Regional Medical Center
Breana McCree, registered nurse in Medical-Surgical, won the DAISY Award for her compassion. The patient’s wife, who nominated McCree, said, “She was so attentive. She made a connection with us and showed us great empathy. All our nurses were great, but Breana was like family and it made a difference.”
Baptist Memorial Hospital-Calhoun
Vicky Wilson, registered nurse in Medical-Surgical, earned the Multiple Nomination Certificate for receiving five DAISY Award nominations within six months. Her most recent nominator said, “Vicky’s care and compassion were outstanding. When you visit and your family member is always talking about the care and kindness shown by Vicky, it really leaves the impression that she is doing her job, plus so much more. She is always joking and laughing with her patients, which makes them feel more at ease.”
Baptist Memorial Hospital-Collierville
A family member nominated Megan McGinnis, registered nurse in float pool, for a DAISY Award for her dedication. “My mom went through critical times. Megan was a light in the dark. She went the extra mile to make sure my mom had everything she needed,” said the nominator. “She really made both me and my mom feel incredibly at ease and at peace during one of the scariest times in my mom’s life.”
Baptist Memorial Hospital-DeSoto
Kayla Guerrero, registered nurse in the Intensive Care Step-down unit, earned the DAISY Award for her professionalism and compassion. The patient who nominated her said, “She consistently placed my best interests at the forefront of every decision, demonstrating thoroughness and attention to detail in all aspects of care. Her warm smile and positive attitude created a comforting environment, and her bedside manner was second to none. She went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect, patiently explaining every step of the process, no matter how many times I asked.”
Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle
Dominique Hodges, registered nurse in Medical-Surgical, won the DAISY Award for her compassion. The nominator, a patient’s family member, said Hodges was “kind, compassionate and friendly every time she entered the room.” The nominator continued, “Her big smile and friendly demeanor gave us a reason to smile. We were so glad that she was our nurse the second night because the first night was exemplary.”
Baptist Memorial Hospital-Union City
A colleague nominated Audrey Tucker, registered nurse in Labor and Delivery, for her compassion and dedication. Tucker jumped into action to help a pregnant mother whose baby needed immediate attention to survive but was not stable enough to transfer. “Audrey is the definition of above-and-beyond compassionate nursing,” said the nominator. “The patient ended up in an urgent C-section. Audrey cried with this patient and stayed with her well after her shift ended to make sure the baby would be OK.”
Mississippi Baptist Medical Center
Hillary Carr, registered nurse in the Post Anesthesia Care unit, received the DAISY Award for her compassion. She was nominated by a patient who experienced complications during recovery from surgery. The patient, who praised Carr for keeping her family updated about her condition, said, “She was always smiling and never complained about how long she had to care for me. Nurses like Hillary are few and far between.”
A patient nominated Danette Dixon, registered nurse in Cardiology, for the DAISY Award for her dedication. The nominator praised Dixon for her “motherly love” and ability to help the family understand what was happening during the hospital stay. The patient was scared when checking into the hospital but left two days later “feeling like the mission had been accomplished.”
