Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi is one of 18 hospitals in the country named as a top performer in the 2024 Bernard A. Birnbaum, MD, Quality Leadership Study by Vizient Inc.
Baptist North Mississippi, along with 17 other Vizient provider customers in the Large, Specialized Complex Care Medical Centers cohort, was recognized for demonstrating excellence in delivering high-quality care based on the Vizient Quality and Accountability Study, conducted annually since 2005.
“We could not be more proud to receive this recognition as a top performing hospital for patient care,” said Brian Welton, chief executive officer and administrator of Baptist North Mississippi. “This award highlights the dedication of our team and how focused they are on providing the best care for patients.”
This year, the Vizient Quality and Accountability Study segmented 860 participating hospitals into four cohorts and measured their performance on the quality of patient care in six domains — safety, mortality, effectiveness, efficiency, patient centeredness and equity of care. The study factors in measures from the Vizient Clinical Data Base and includes performance data from the Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems Survey and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s National Healthcare Safety Network.
“Leading hospitals are leveraging data and analytics to provide superior clinical outcomes,” said David Levine, chief medical officer for Vizient. “This award honors Baptist North Mississippi for demonstrating leadership focused on results and a culture of collaboration and adaptability that is necessary to succeed. It is a pleasure to congratulate Baptist North Mississippi on their achievement and commitment to delivering exceptional patient care.”
The Vizient Quality and Accountability Study helps participating hospitals and health systems understand their performance against their peers and identifies structures and processes associated with high performance in quality and safety across a broad spectrum of patient care activity. The recognition period is for work conducted between July 1, 2023, and June 30, 2024.
