Tommyka Bell, RN on 3 West at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Memphis, earned a DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses for the compassion she demonstrated when caring for a patient who exhibited daily non-compliance in the face of life-threatening illness. Two physicians nominated Tommyka.
According to her nominators, Tommyka demonstrated exceptional patience when working with the patient. She was gentle, kind and encouraging while also being firm.
“Even though the patient was actively working against the medical team, Tommyka absolutely refused to give up on him. She was able to breathe new life into an old and tiresome situation,” said the nomination.
