Jennifer Crunk, RN in ICU at Baptist Memphis, earned a DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses for the compassion she showed a patient’s family during the death of their loved one.
Jennifer was nominated by the patient’s daughter, who said she did an amazing job of letting her know when her very ill father was about to pass so that his wishes of not being attached to any machines when he died could be honored. She appreciated Jennifer keeping both her and her mother informed.
The nominator shared, “She was so kind, compassionate and caring. She slowly and thoughtfully explained to me what I could expect during the time leading up to and during his passing. She hugged me, held my hand and even prayed with me. This was the hardest thing I have ever gone through, but our nurse made it as painless as possible. I feel she is the reason my mother and I are at peace with my father’s passing.”
