The American College of Cardiology has awarded Chest Pain Center Accreditation with Primary PCI to Baptist Memphis and Baptist Golden Triangle for their demonstrated expertise and commitment in treating patients with chest pain.
“We are so proud of this chest pain accreditation and of our hardworking team members who helped us achieve the accreditation,” said Paul Cade, CEO and administrator of Baptist Golden Triangle. “This recognition demonstrates the high level of care we provide to our heart attack patients.”
Hospitals that earn ACC Chest Pain Center Accreditation have proven their staff’s ability to evaluate, diagnose and treat patients who may be experiencing a heart attack. The Primary PCI accreditation means a hospital performs percutaneous coronary interventions for acute heart attacks. A PCI, also known as angioplasty, uses a catheter to put a stent in place to relieve cardiac plaque buildup.
“Baptist Memphis works hard to ensure our cardiovascular (CV) patients receive the very best care, which is why we’re excited to announce we’ve received the Chest Pain Center with Primary PCI accreditation from the American College of Cardiology. This demonstrates our commitment to providing the highest quality of care for our patients and shows we’re committed to a culture of quality improvement among our CV team,” said Jordan JuVette, Chest Pain Center coordinator at Baptist Memphis.
Jordan said the Baptist Memphis CV team includes Pharmacy, Lab, Cath Lab, Staff Development, 2 East and 2 South nursing units, Case Management, Emergency Department, Quality, Nuclear Cardiology, Cardiac Rehab, Medical Response Team, Administration, the Memphis Fire Department and sister hospitals Baptist Collierville, Baptist Crittenden and Baptist Tipton.
Hospitals receiving ACC Chest Pain Center Accreditation must take part in a multifaceted clinical process that involves completing a gap analysis, examining variances of care, developing an action plan, submitting to a rigorous on-site review and monitoring for sustained success.
ACC-accredited centers have streamlined their systems from admission and evaluation to diagnosis and treatment. These centers also provide appropriate post-discharge care and recommendations and help patients make lifestyle changes.
