Baptist Memorial Health Care team members received honors, including the Good Catch recognition at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Collierville and TULIP Awards at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle. Another team member at Baptist Memorial Hospital-DeSoto received a nursing leadership certification. Please keep reading to learn more.
Baptist Collierville
Anna Arendale, registered nurse, was chosen as the hospital’s Good Catch Award recipient. She was recognized for her quick thinking and attention to detail after identifying a potential safety concern during a patient transfer. Arendale immediately took action to ensure the patient was properly monitored before transport.
Her actions are a great example of what the hospital’s Good Catch Award represents — speaking up, taking action and always putting patient safety first.
Baptist DeSoto
Lori Porter, nurse manager in the Mother-Baby unit, recently became a Certified Nurse Manager and Leader (CNML) through the American Organization for Nursing Leadership.
The CNML exam tests knowledge of financial management, human resources management, performance improvement and strategic management of technology. Porter is the second nurse manager to receive this certification at Baptist DeSoto.
Baptist Golden Triangle
Jessica Mason, certified nursing assistant, was selected as a TULIP (Thoughtful, Unforgettable, Lasting Impact on Patient Care) Award winner for the second quarter. The award honors nursing support staff who go above and beyond to provide outstanding, compassionate care for patients.
The patient who nominated Mason said: “Jessica has an amazing personality and kind heart. Every time she entered my room, she greeted me with a warm smile, brightening my day. Her joy, care and passion for what she does reminds me that there are still wonderful and loving people around us.”
Toni White, patient care assistant, won the TULIP Award for the third quarter. A patient’s family member nominated White for going above and beyond to care for her husband while in the hospital. “She was helpful in assisting with things I could not do alone. She was strong but gentle and had no strong words, only kindness and compassion,” the nominator said.
Both Mason and White received a TULIP pin, a framed award certificate, flowers, a preferred parking spot and banner to display in their unit for the quarter, as well as freshly baked cookies to share.
