The IT team at Baptist Memorial Health Care won a 2024 CIO 100 Award for its cloud-based disaster recovery strategy that allows physicians and patients to access electronic health records from anywhere in the world.
Baptist’s system, which the IT team created in only four months, is the second-largest electronic health record system in the cloud. It supports the continuity of health care during environmental risks, such as earthquakes, floods and tornados.
“I am proud of our IT team and their support of our mission at Baptist Memorial Health Care to provide high-quality care for patients,” said Chief Information and Digital Officer for Baptist Memorial Health Care, Tom Barnett. “Thanks to their collaboration and talent, they developed a cloud-based disaster recovery strategy in unprecedented time that protects Baptist’s digital infrastructure and patients’ records, as well as ensures the continuity of quality patient care in any situation.”
