The Brain & Spine Network Center of Excellence (BSN), developed by Baptist Memorial Health Care and Semmes Murphey Clinic, earned a Points of Light 2026 Award in collaboration with Cedar Gate Technologies and MedBen Health Benefits. The award from KLAS Research recognizes health care organizations for successful bundled payment programs.
“We implemented bundled payments because of their proven, repeatable ability to reduce costs while maintaining care quality and patient satisfaction for the people we serve,” said Kimberly Hallum Stewart, system administrator of Neurosciences and CV Services for Baptist Memorial Health Care. “Partnering with Cedar Gate provided our team with deep bundles experience and solutions that could be tailored to the unique needs of our patients and our health care organization.”

- Reduced total cost of care by 60% compared to patients who received similar care outside of the BSN
- Lowered surgical intervention rates by 50% as a result of conservative care bundled payment pathways
- Successfully diverted 91% of appropriate care from hospital inpatient facilities to ambulatory surgery centers
- Achieved 97% patient satisfaction based on patients who would recommend the program
- Significantly reduced avoidable emergency department and urgent care visits
