Baptist Medical Group and Baptist Union City Staff Join Medical Mission in Guatemala

Baptist Medical Group and Baptist Memorial Hospital-Union City team members joined with Second Baptist Church in Union City, Tennessee, and Volunteer Baptists International to offer a medical clinic in the San Gaspar community of Guatemala City in January. Mission team members treated nearly 400 adults and children during the three-day clinic.

Medical volunteers assessed vital signs and blood sugar levels, counseled patients and prescribed medications or vitamins.

Baptist team members who provided care in Guatemala include Dr. John Clendenin and Dr. William Kirk Stone, both with Baptist Medical Group-The Doctors’ Clinic Union City; Amanda Keown, nurse practitioner at Baptist Medical Group-The Doctors’ Clinic Union City; Aleigha Beth Keeling, licensed practical nurse with Baptist Medical Group-Women’s Health Center of Union City; Stephanie Coleman, nurse practitioner with Baptist Medical Group-Union City Urology; Bryleigh Woodward, registered nurse in Labor and Delivery at Baptist Union City; and Kelsey Coleman, registered nurse and case manager at Baptist Union City.

“It was inspiring to see these individuals receive expert care and medical guidance from the volunteers who participated in this medical mission trip,” said Kelsey Coleman. “Our aim was not only to benefit the public’s health but to give opportunities to lead others to Christ by sharing the Gospel and testimonies.”
