Baptist Cancer Center thoracic oncologist Dr. Raymond Osarogiagbon presented more than a decade of work at the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) in Chicago—the world’s largest oncology meeting.
Dr. Osarogiagbon’s presentation concerned improving outcomes for patients with non-small cell lung cancer, including the preliminary results of a 5-year grant from the National Institutes of Health on the pragmatic study of a lymph node specimen collection kit for non-small cell lung cancer surgeries in the Mid-South.
Patients who underwent surgery when the kit was used saw a 30% improvement in overall survival over those when the kit was not used.
The oral presentation on the thoracic oncology research group’s work was one of three non-small cell lung cancer studies ASCO selected to be presented.
