On Thursday, Aug. 8, Baptist hosted the Medical Laboratory Sciences Research Seminar at Garrett Auditorium. Presented by the 2024 class for the Master of Science in Clinical Laboratory Sciences (MSCLS) degree at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center, the seminar follows the first UTHSC Laboratory Management rotation coordinated between Baptist Memorial Hospital-Memphis, Baptist Memorial Hospital for Women and UTHSC.
Three students spent June and July completing their rotations at Baptist Memphis and another student participated in a rotation at Baptist Women’s Hospital. Baptist Memphis has hired one of the students to start working at the hospital in August.
“Participating in medical laboratory programs allows us to demonstrate what each Baptist location has to offer,” said Cristi Carver, Laboratory director at Baptist Women’s Hospital.
Cristi worked with the System Laboratory Lead Director James Bolden to set up the first rotations for the UTHSC MSCLS program at Baptist Memphis and Baptist Women’s Hospital.
