Baptist Memorial Health Care recently presented the Olive Branch Family YMCA with a check for $3,000 to help fund its Safety Around Water (S.A.W.) program for 2021. Kelle Roberts, the administrative director of marketing with Baptist DeSoto, presented the check to James Corrigan, the center director for the YMCA branch.
Water safety is critical to families, especially during the late spring and summer when most serious water incidents occur.
“We joined with S.A.W. particularly because we saw the importance of safety around water and the impact that it can have amongst Mid-South families,” said Nicholas Weaver, system community relations coordinator for Baptist Memorial Health Care.
S.A.W. has a big, positive impact on the approximately 2,000 children served by the program in Olive Branch. When pools were closed during the earlier part of the pandemic, the Olive Branch Family YMCA provided supplementary materials to help children, but this spring pools at the YMCA reopened with limited class sizes.
