Shun Gibson, patient care technician with Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle, was selected as a TULIP (Thoughtful, Unforgettable, Lasting Impact on Patient Care) Award winner for the fourth quarter of 2025. She was nominated by a patient’s family member.

The nominator said, “Shun has truly been a ray of sunshine during mom’s extended hospital stay, ever since their first encounter in May. Despite sometimes being on different floors, Shun has consistently made the effort to check in on my mom, bringing small mementos and keepsakes to lift her spirits and brighten her room.”

Gibson received a TULIP pin, a framed award certificate, flowers, a preferred parking spot and banner to display in her unit for the quarter, as well as freshly baked cookies to share with her unit.

The nominator continued, “There have been countless times when I’ve walked into my mom’s room to find Shun by her side, offering companionship and support, from reading the Bible together to sharing stories about vacations and family. I’ve even witnessed my mom trying to teach Shun how to crochet, creating moments of joy in the midst of challenging times. It’s impossible to measure the positive impact Shun’s visits have had on my mom.”

For the TULIP Award, one honoree from the hospital’s nursing support staff who goes above and beyond to provide outstanding, compassionate care for patients is selected each quarter. Click here for more information or to nominate a nursing support team member at Baptist Golden Triangle.
