Baptist DeSoto Earns Cardiac Cath Lab Accreditation

The American College of Cardiology (ACC) awarded Baptist Memorial Hospital-DeSoto its Cardiac Cath Lab Accreditation with PCI (percutaneous coronary intervention). Baptist DeSoto earned the reaccreditation for its demonstrated expertise and commitment to treating patients who come to the cardiac cath lab for care, including to receive diagnostic catheterizations and PCI procedures.

The accreditation is based on the team’s ability to evaluate, diagnose and treat cardiac cath lab patients. Hospitals receiving Cardiac Cath Lab Accreditation with PCI from the ACC must take part in a multifaceted clinical process, which involves a rigorous on-site review, completing a gap analysis, examining variances of care, developing an action plan and monitoring for sustained success.

“Baptist DeSoto has demonstrated its commitment to providing excellent heart care,” said Dr. Deepak L. Bhatt, chair of the ACC Accreditation Management Board. “ACC Accreditation Services is proud to award Baptist DeSoto the Cardiac Cath Lab Accreditation with PCI.”

Facilities that achieve accreditation must meet or exceed an array of stringent criteria and have organized a team of doctors, nurses, clinicians and other administrative staff that earnestly support efforts leading to improved patient outcomes.
