Baptist Collierville and Baptist Union County Recognize Service First Champions

Two Baptist Memorial hospitals announced their Service First Champions, recognized for their dedication and compassionate care.

Baptist Collierville honored Erika Golden, pharmacist at the hospital, as Service First Champion for the first quarter for the dedication she exhibited while helping a patient who was discharged to hospice care and required uninterrupted medication.

Erika’s nominator said, “Erika and the patient’s nurse worked together to establish a discharge timetable to ensure there was no lapse in the medication between discharge and the delivery of the medication from home health.” The nominator also noted that Erika collaborated with the pharmacy at Baptist Memphis to have the medication delivered immediately to Baptist Collierville prior to the patient’s discharge.

Baptist Collierville recognized Brylie Brown, ultrasound technologist, as Service First Champion for the second quarter after she made a critical finding and immediately alerted the radiologist to contact the patient’s primary care physician with instructions to get the patient a referral to a urologist.

“Thanks to Brylie’s critical thinking, this patient’s possible cancer diagnosis was not delayed. Not only is Brylie focused on her patients, she also ensures the department is staffed appropriately. During inclement weather earlier in the year, Brylie spent the night at the hospital so she would not miss her shift the following day,” said her nominator.

Baptist Union County named Anna Rasberry, RN in the Emergency Department, as Service First Champion for the second quarter. She was nominated by a supervisor for going above and beyond to help a patient who had been discharged but needed help assessing their peripherally inserted central catheter (PICC) line.

The nomination explained that Anna went to the patient’s home after her shift ended at 7 p.m. to assess the PICC line and educate the patient and family. According to the nominator, “Anna consistently provides compassionate care for her patients. She helps others without being asked and is always watching out for her coworkers.”

“Anna’s concern and empathy for others exemplifies what a Service First Champion should be,” said Ann Bishop, CEO/administrator at Baptist Union County. “It is outstanding team members like Anna who make a real difference at Baptist Union County and in the lives of our patients and families.”
