The closing of McKenzie Regional Hospital (MRH) in McKenzie, Tennessee, last fall meant more people in that community would have to rely on nearby Baptist Carroll County for care. The hospital has answered the call, adding services and technology, as well as treating a record number of patients. The team has performed more surgeries during the first four months of this fiscal year than they performed all of last year. The hospital also hired a large number of former MRH employees, and MRH’s outpatient diagnostics center and sleep center became part of Baptist Carroll County but remained in McKenzie. The hospital also opened a physical therapy clinic in McKenzie.
Hospital officials shared all this information and more during an open house for legislators and their staffs. Senator John Stevens, Representatives Curtis Halford and Andy Holt, and Carroll County Mayor Joseph Butler were among the lawmakers who heard from hospital leaders and front-line team members. They also saw the hospital’s new telehealth technology.
