Baptist Cancer Center’s ‘Breathe Better’ Event Raises Awareness for Lung Cancer in the Mid-South

On Nov. 18, Baptist Cancer Center hosted more than 500 people at Breathe Better: A Free Family Event for Lung Cancer Awareness at Crosstown Concourse.

This event provided attendees with the opportunity to learn about tobacco cessation and participate in an on-site lung cancer screening survey. Community members also enjoyed the fun, interactive MEGA lungs exhibit, as well as live music and delicious, complimentary food from local vendors.

Speaker Chris Draft, chairperson of The White Ribbon Project, discussed tobacco cessation and the importance of low-dose CT screenings.

Event participants who have been personally affected by lung cancer were presented with white ribbons, which were created by community members and sanded, painted and signed by members of the Baptist Cancer Center team.
