Baptist Breaks Ground on Arlington Freestanding Emergency Department

Baptist Arlington Freestanding Emergency Department groundbreaking on September 15, 2021.

Baptist recently broke ground on the site of a new, 35,000-square-foot facility at 5150 Airline Road in Arlington. The site will house Baptist Medical Group primary care offices, a medical imaging center and a freestanding emergency department – the first of its kind in Shelby County.

The eight-room freestanding ER, a department of Baptist Memphis, will include lab, X-ray, ultrasound, CT and respiratory therapy services.

Jason Little, president and CEO of Baptist Memorial Health Care, describes the facility as “an advanced model of care that will allow us to meet Arlington’s current need for emergency and primary care medical services while also providing an opportunity to expand with the community as it grows.”

The Baptist Arlington Freestanding Emergency Department will be open 24 hours and have space for future growth. Opening is expected in late summer or early fall 2022.

“We are extremely excited to see construction beginning on the Baptist Freestanding ER, which will bring advanced emergency care not just to Arlington, but the counties of Shelby, Fayette, Tipton and beyond,” said Arlington Mayor Mike Wissman.
