Valerie Carter has been promoted to chief administrative officer for Baptist Memorial Hospital-Booneville and Baptist Memorial Hospital-Union County, and Sergio Warren has been named operational services support director for Baptist Booneville. Both are long-term team members who have worked in leadership positions for Baptist for 20-plus years.
“Valerie and Sergio are talented leaders who have made a significant difference at Baptist Booneville,” said Ann Bishop, CEO and administrator of Baptist Booneville and Baptist Union County. “I have observed their dedication and excellence for several years and can’t think of two more deserving people for these roles. It is my honor to promote them and work alongside them in caring for this community.”
As CAO, Carter will be responsible for day-to-day operations at Baptist Booneville, Baptist Union County, Baptist Cancer Centers in Union County, the rheumatology clinic, quality, accreditation, emergency management, infection prevention and several other areas.
Carter has worked for Baptist for 23 years, starting her career as a nursing intern at Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi. Since joining Baptist, Carter has worked in key quality and leadership roles at Baptist Union County. She served as hospitalist program coordinator/performance improvement coordinator from 2012 to 2020, risk/quality/patient experience manager from 2020 to 2022 and, most recently, as associate administrator since 2023. She also held the role of interim system director of quality and accreditation.
Carter has an Associate of Applied Science in nursing from Itawamba Community College, a Bachelor of Science in nursing from Baptist College of Health Sciences (now known as Baptist Health Sciences University) and a Master of Health Administration from the University of Phoenix.
As operational services support director, Warren will have oversight of environmental services, safety, facility services, clinical engineering, food and nutrition services, security, and marketing and community relations/outreach.
Warren has a Bachelor of Science in exercise science from the University of Mississippi and an MBA in healthcare administration from Capella University and has been with Baptist for 25 years. He was promoted to director of marketing and community relations in 2004; senior leader of clinical engineering, environmental services and food and nutrition services in 2014; and safety officer and security leader in 2017. He continues to have oversight of these roles in his new position.
