Baptist Anderson Honors Volunteers of the Year

Baptist Anderson Regional Medical Center honored Jean and Pete Willis as Volunteers of the Year for 2025. They are often referred to as the hospital’s “volunteer power couple,” and they have collectively dedicated 18 years of service to the Baptist Anderson Volunteer Auxiliary team.

“Jean and Pete are always willing to take on any task — and they do it with excellence, compassion and joy,” said Baptist Anderson Director of Guest Services Sheila Nettles. “Pete is our resident volunteer handyman, assisting with countless projects, while Jean leads the Clothes Closet, keeping it organized and well stocked for patients who need a change of clothes while at the hospital. Together, they also round on patients, offering help, a listening ear or a heartfelt prayer.”

The couple also takes the lead in caring for garden pots around the North campus and escorts the Mennonite Choir at Christmas. Members of Gideons International request the couple escort them while they distribute Bibles around both the North and South campuses each quarter.
