On March 26, 2024, Baptist Anderson Regional Medical Center’s board of directors named the chapel in the ICU waiting area in honor of Joseph M.S. Anderson, who has faithfully served as hospital chaplain since 2005.
Chaplain Anderson’s strong faith and desire to follow God’s will have always been paramount in his life, which led him to answer the call to become a servant of the Lord. Upon receiving his Doctor of Ministry, he established the chaplaincy and pastoral care program at Baptist Anderson. He has dedicated his life to the three-fold mission of Christ — healing, preaching and teaching.
Chaplain Anderson faithfully visits patients and comforts those in need, ensuring everyone he encounters knows they are loved. He ministers to patients in their time of need and has led countless patients to accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. Chaplain Anderson also has a deep passion for ministering to staff members and often rounds through departments and nursing units to share a caring word, devotion or prayer.
A reception was held to recognize Chaplain Anderson’s tremendous service. Family, friends and staff members attended the service, and a plaque was placed outside the entrance to the chapel alongside Chaplain Anderson’s picture.
