The American Heart Association (AHA) recognized multiple Baptist Memorial Hospitals with awards for their heart disease and stroke care. Baptist Memorial Hospital-Memphis, Mississippi Baptist Medical Center (MBMC) and NEA Baptist Memorial Hospital earned the AHA’s Get With The Guidelines – Stroke GOLD PLUS with Target: Stroke Honor Roll Elite Award.
Baptist Memorial Hospital-DeSoto achieved Get With The Guidelines – Stroke GOLD PLUS Award, and Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle earned Get With The Guidelines – Stroke GOLD PLUS with Target: Stroke Honor Roll Award. Baptist Memorial Hospital-Union County achieved Get With The Guidelines – Rural Stroke BRONZE Award.
The stroke quality achievement award honors hospitals for their commitment to providing stroke patients with the most appropriate treatment according to nationally recognized, research-based guidelines, leading to more lives saved and reduced disability. To qualify for this recognition, hospitals must meet specific criteria that reduce the time between an eligible patient’s arrival at the hospital and treatment.
Target: Type 2 Diabetes Honor Roll Award
The AHA also honored Baptist Memphis, NEA Baptist, Baptist DeSoto and MBMC with its Target: Type 2 Diabetes Honor Roll Award. The Target: Type 2 Diabetes initiative aims to help ensure patients with Type 2 diabetes, who might be at higher risk for complications, receive the most up-to-date, evidence-based care when hospitalized due to stroke.
Heart Failure Recognition
MBMC achieved Get With The Guidelines – Heart Failure GOLD PLUS with Target: Heart Failure Honor Roll Award, and AHA recognized Baptist Memphis with Get With The Guidelines – Heart Failure SILVER PLUS with Target: Heart Failure Honor Roll Award. The Get With The Guidelines – Heart Failure program is designed to increase healthy days at home and reduce hospital readmissions for heart failure patients. The award is earned by hospitals that demonstrate a commitment to treating patients according to the most up-to-date guidelines as outlined by the AHA.
