The American College of Osteopathic Surgeons (ACOS) elected Dr. Sharon Beth Larson as the chair of its Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery Discipline on Friday, Sept. 22, at the Annual Clinical Assembly (ACA) in Chicago. Dr. Larson is a cardiothoracic surgeon and the surgical director for Cardiac Transplant, Mechanical Circulatory Support and Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Memphis.
At the ACA, Dr. Larson made two presentations: “Get Out: A Novel Strategy for Best Practice with Impella 5.5 Bridge” and “Lightening the Load: Debulking with AngioVac for Operative Optimization in Infective Endocarditis.”
With the election as discipline chair, Dr. Larson has also become a member of the Board of Governors for the ACOS. Previously, she was elected as the secretary and treasurer and as the chair-elect of the Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery Discipline.
