The American Heart Association honored multiple Baptist Memorial hospitals with awards for their stroke care. Baptist DeSoto, Baptist Memphis and NEA Baptist earned the AHA’s Get With The Guidelines – Stroke GOLD PLUS with Target: Stroke Honor Roll Elite Award. The AHA also recognized Baptist Golden Triangle with the Get With The Guidelines – Stroke GOLD PLUS Award.
The stroke quality achievement award honors hospitals for their commitment to providing stroke patients with the most appropriate treatment according to nationally recognized, research-based guidelines, leading to more lives saved and reduced disability. To qualify for this recognition, hospitals must meet specific criteria that reduce the time between an eligible patient’s arrival at the hospital and treatment.
Mississippi Baptist Medical Center achieved Get With The Guidelines – Heart Failure GOLD with Target: Heart Failure Honor Roll Award.
The AHA also recognized Baptist DeSoto, Baptist Memphis, NEA Baptist and MBMC with its Target: Type 2 Diabetes Honor Roll Award. The Target: Type 2 Diabetes initiative aims to help ensure patients with Type 2 diabetes, who might be at higher risk for complications, receive the most up-to-date, evidence-based care when hospitalized due to stroke.
“Participation in Get With The Guidelines is associated with improved patient outcomes, fewer readmissions and lower mortality rates — a win for health care systems, families and communities,” said Dr. Steven Messe, chairperson of the Stroke System of Care Advisory Group with the American Heart Association.
