Baptist team members volunteered with great enthusiasm during the 2016 Step Out: Walk to Stop Diabetes event held Sept. 17 at the Memphis Botanic Garden. The event benefited the American Diabetes Association. More than 65 teams, 500 walkers and 35 volunteers participated in the daylong event.
“Thanks to friends like Baptist, we held a fun, well-organized and safe event for everyone who took part in Step Out! We couldn’t have done it without you!” said Jenael M Ignat, associate director of development for the Memphis American Diabetes Association.
The dollars and awareness raised at Step Out will support the ADA mission, which is to prevent and cure diabetes and to improve the lives of all people affected by diabetes.
The Association is leading the fight to Stop Diabetes® and its deadly consequences and fighting for those affected by diabetes. The association funds research to prevent, cure and manage diabetes; delivers services to hundreds of communities; provides objective and credible information; and gives voice to those denied their rights because of diabetes.
“Through events like Step Out we can continue to fight the good fight for nearly 29 million American children and adults living with diabetes. On behalf of all Americans living with diabetes, thank you for your commitment to the fight against diabetes,” said Ignat.
