September 24 was a historic day for our cancer program. That date represents the final phase of our oncology physicians from four separate groups coming together as one and officially joining the Baptist Cancer Center. Each of these physicians spent many years building a successful practice, however, chose to transition from their former group to practice under the Baptist Cancer Center banner.
This consolidation means much more than changing a name. It brings together the physician expertise of all of the former groups, which gives Baptist Cancer Center the ability to broaden its reach, to grow and enhance its services, and to begin to create an integrated, coordinated cancer program for patients and surrounding communities. As one group, we can define a common mission and vision that will make Baptist the best place for cancer care.
The doctors who joined the Baptist Cancer Center are among the best in their field. They trained at leading universities, earned national acclaim and have been invited to participate in prestigious clinical trials. Most importantly, they care genuinely for our patients and their families. Any cancer program would love to have them. And they chose Baptist.
I would like to thank everyone responsible for this remarkable achievement: first and foremost our patients, who have entrusted us with their care during one of the most difficult times in their lives; the oncologists, whose vision for a consolidated cancer center led to this partnership; our cancer center team of professionals, who built a program that these esteemed physicians would choose to join; and you for maintaining work environments where these physicians can continue to thrive.
Together, we’re making the Baptist Cancer Center the premier place for cancer care!
