Baptist’s Southern Heritage Classic raises awareness about heart disease

For the fourth year, Baptist sponsored the Southern Heritage Classic event with the “Who Has the Most Heart?” campaign in September. Designed to raise awareness about heart disease, the event encourages people to get engaged in their own health while at the same time raising scholarship money.

Baptist had 42 volunteers canvas the Friday morning Tom Joyner Show and a tailgating event at Tiger Lane to stress the importance of self-monitoring blood pressure.

Blood pressure checks were provided during the weekend to more than 350 in attendance, and many were directed to www.baptistonline.org/mostheart for the challenge.

To date the website has had 1,600 hits. Baptist will continue to promote the challenge until Dec. 31 for two good causes, heart health and a $5,000 scholarship.
