Baptist University Helps Memphis Homeless

At the annual College Assembly held on Aug. 30, Baptist Health Sciences University faculty and team members assembled 420 hygiene kits for Baptist Operation Outreach to distribute to the homeless individuals they see in the mobile clinic. The kits contained many essential items, from toothbrushes to socks and adhesive bandages.

The assembly theme for the event was “Bluetopia” and was centered on the four sections of the College’s new strategic plan – students, curriculum, environment and community.

The team presentations focused on accomplishments from the last academic year, plans for 2016-2017, and brief “what’s right at Baptist University” human interest stories.

As a tradition, Dr. Betty Sue McGarvey, president of Baptist University, introduced all new employees who have joined the school since the last College Assembly. The faculty and staff also brought non-perishable food items to begin a small, emergency food pantry for students in need.
