Life just became more efficient for case managers and social workers at Baptist with the August 1 go-live of the Epic Case Management module. The transition was led by Baptist Technology Services’ Chris Altendorf, the Baptist OneCare (BOC) team and systemwide case management leadership and teams.
“This is a major module that handles all of the clinical documentation related to utilization review, case management and social work,” said Chris.
The module grew out of a need for a higher level of integration and is tied directly to Baptist’s “Right Care” mission. The roll-out happened on time with tremendous buy-in from the case management (CM) teams and a high level of collaboration between the BOC and CM teams since January 2016.
According to Dr. Hoda Asmar, Baptist’s chief medical officer for system clinical improvement, “The migration of the case management/social work teams to an Epic platform involved about 200 staff and was seamless while achieving the desired goals of integration and standardization of daily clinical operations.
