2016 Art of Caring features art—and hippos

The 2016 Art of Caring combines art with the exotic, as guests get a chance to mix with a herd of uncommon guests— hippos. Taking place at the new Zambezi River Hippo Camp at the Memphis Zoo on Aug. 27, Art of Caring also happens virtually, allowing those who can’t attend the chance to bid online for art, travel, recreation and more.

Art of Caring showcases the original works of local artists who produce everything from jewelry, photography, fine art and even furniture. Online bidding is open now until 8:00 p.m. Aug. 27. With more than 90 items available for purchase, this year’s event offers something for everyone, including:

  • Tickets to Disneyworld PLUS a one- week stay at the Holiday Inn Orange Lake Resort
  • One-hour Flight Simulator Session
  • Bass Fishing for 4 at Foxfield
  • Ole Miss Grove basket
  • Donation to send a child to Camp Good Grief
  • Sponsor a hospice patient
  • Grant a Priceless Wish

Plan to join the party at the Zambezi River Hippo Camp from 5:30 – 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 27. Dress is casual, and the guests can enjoy a complimentary shuttle right to the event door. Ron Childers, WMC-TV Action News 5’s chief meteorologist, will entertain the crowd during the live auction.

For the last 17 years, Art of Caring has helped raise money systemwide for Baptist hospice programs as well as for the Kemmons Wilson Family Center for Good Grief in Collierville, Tenn.
