Jasmine Farjallah joined Sunya Payne, principal at Alcy Elementary, and Julie Horn, neuro/stroke coordinator at Baptist Memphis, on the pitcher’s mound during the Memphis Redbirds’ Strike Out Stroke game held May 21. One of the winners of a stroke awareness poster contest, Jasmine declared “This is the best day of my life!” following the evening’s fireworks.
Jasmine is part of a program designed to raise stroke awareness among Memphis-area fifth graders. To help teach kids about stroke, the program brings stroke survivors to schools and hosted a poster contest. For winning the contest, Jasmine got a ticket to the game and a Walmart gift card. Proceeds from the Strike Out Stroke game benefited the program.
