The 2016 Groner Fellows, Parker Harris, Collin Cheek and Allison Bosse, were accepted into the Groner Fellowship Program, a Baptist tradition that began over 50 years ago with the intent of developing the next generation of health care leaders.
The three fellows earned their Masters in Healthcare Administration from the University of Memphis this month and pursued graduate assistant positions with Baptist while in graduate school. Much like a non-clinical fellowship, the Groner fellows will spend the next year shadowing senior leadership and working on projects across the Baptist system.
“This program helps us figure out our niche in health care,” said Collin. Even so, the three have already loosely defined their personal areas of interest. Allison is interested in helping transition practice groups and population health, while Parker prefers operations. “I fell in love with operations. I love the hospital because our work really has the chance to improve or save a life,” said Parker.
Meanwhile, Collin comes from a family with close ties to health care. His grandfather was a surgeon and his father operates four nursing homes in the South. “I worked at Trinity Hospice with Wanda Miller and I’m interested in learning the acute side of care.”
Parker points to Dana Dye as his preceptor while Allison worked closely with Anita Vaughn.
Welcome, Fellows!
