On May 28, a newly minted tradition will begin with the first annual Memphis in May Great American River Run Half Marathon and 5K. Sponsored by Baptist, the run is an ideal time for Baptist team members, runners and non-runners alike, to join in the fun by running or buying a Baptist Race shirt.
Baptist will host warm-up exercises with USA Bobsled athlete Sable Otey, a cool-down yoga stretching session and a photo booth.
The race course will take participants along the banks of the mighty Mississippi River and through downtown Memphis. Anyone who finishes the half marathon will receive a medal, and both races are designed for all levels – from elite athletes to the beginning runner.
In addition, all runners registered in the Great American River Run will receive free entry to another new event, the 901Fest. Packed with local musicians, food, vendors, merchandise and more, 901Fest will be the closing event for this year’s Memphis in May Festival.
The newly designed Baptist dry fit shirt will be available in all sizes with prices ranging from $15 to $18. To purchase a shirt, visit baptistleader.org/mim. Deadline for purchase is May 17.
