Four Baptist Hospitals earn Leapfrog’s ‘A’ Safety Rating

Baptist Golden Triangle, Baptist North Mississippi, Baptist Union City and Baptist Union County once again earned “As” in the Leapfrog Group’s most recent Hospital Safety Scores survey. All four hospitals also earned “As” in the last Leapfrog survey.

Baptist Golden Triangle’s latest A rating continues the hospital’s streak of Straight A safety ratings that began when the program was first launched in 2013. It is the only hospital in Mississippi and one of only 153 in the United States to have achieved Straight As in the Hospital Safety Score since 2013, according to Leapfrog.

Developed under the guidance of Leapfrog’s Blue Ribbon Expert Panel, the Hospital Safety Score uses 30 safety data measures and grades more than 2,500 U.S. hospitals twice per year. It is calculated by top patient safety experts, peer-reviewed, fully transparent and free to the public.

For the first time, the Hospital Safety Scores include five measures of patient-reported experience with the hospital such as communication about medicines, communications with nurses and doctors and the responsiveness of the hospital staff. Other new measures are two of the most common infections, C.diff and MRSA.

Founded in 2000 by large employers and other purchasers, The Leapfrog Group is a national nonprofit organization driving a movement for giant leaps forward in the quality and safety of American health care.
