Baptist Collierville Visits Memphis Oral School for the Deaf

Baptist Collierville team members David Knight, nuclear med technologist, and Jeaniene Commer, RN, visited kindergarten and elementary students at the Memphis Oral School for the Deaf in March as part of the school’s career week.

“We brought face masks and stethoscopes and talked to them about a doctor’s job and medicine.” said David.

The Baptist team spent about two hours with the kids, many of whom had cochlear implants.

“We had a good time, and the six- and seven-year-olds asked us a lot of questions, said David. “The littler ones weren’t quite sure about us!”

David has been with Baptist for 16 years and said the visit successfully exposed kids to the world of medicine—in their own classrooms.
