Lifeblood Names Baptist the 2015 ‘Lifesaver of the Year’

Baptist Memorial Health Care was honored as the 2015 “Lifesaver of the Year” during Lifeblood’s seventh Annual Awards Luncheon. Last year, Baptist team members and Baptist Health Sciences University students donated 900 units of blood. With an increase of more than 20 percent in 2015, the Baptist Health Sciences University won Lifeblood’s “Healthcare” Group Award for its blood collection efforts.

The criteria for winning a Group Award focus on growth in collections and being a significant contributor to the blood drive community. Other Group Award winners included Collierville First Baptist Church, First Tennessee, Christian Brothers University, Southern College of Optometry, Brighton High School, Temple Israel, White Station Church of Christ, and the City of Bartlett employees. Buckman won the Richard “Dick” Benson Community Service Award.

Mandy Morgan of 104.5 The River-WRVR’s “Mike and Mandy” delivered the keynote address. Her daughter’s life was saved after receiving a blood transfusion shortly after she was born. Her daughter was a Baptist Women’s Hospital NICU patient eight years ago, and she’s doing well today.
