Baptist entities support breast cancer awareness

Baptist and its affiliate hospitals spent much of October supporting breast cancer awareness programs and events.

Baptist Tipton sold pink t-shirts, held a pumpkin contest and hosted a breast cancer luncheon, whose keynote speaker was 29-year breast cancer survivor Sue Wheeler. The hospital also held its annual Mammos and Muffins event and organized a Race for the Cure team. The Pink Heals Memphis fire truck, which has signatures and messages from cancer survivors and their family members, visited the hospital.

Baptist continued its strong presence at the Susan G. Komen Memphis Midsouth Race for the Cure, raising $40,000 for the event. In addition, about 150 team members attended the race, more than any other local health care organization.

The community outreach team also sold Chick-fil-a breakfast items, and proceeds benefited the mammography van fund.
