Dr. Michael Bronstein recently performed his last Cesarean section at Baptist Women’s Hospital before retiring.
“Each delivery has been so exciting, you’re helping bring new life into the world,” said Dr. Bronstein. “The families’ excitement and happiness gets transferred to me and I love being able to celebrate with them.”
Dr. Bronstein began delivering babies at Baptist in 1977, and for his final C-section, he requested the assistance of surgical tech Dorothy “Tiny” Jones. Dr. Bronstein and Tiny have worked together for more than 30 years. Tiny is also retiring after 46 years of service.
“I was so honored when Dr. Bronstein asked me to help him for his last delivery. He has such a calm and gentle spirit,” said Tiny. “It was a bittersweet day, I’m sad to leave but I’m happy knowing that I’ve made such wonderful relationships with the employees and families.”
Dr. Bronstein said he’s looking forward to devoting more time to his hobbies, which include riding his motorcycle and antique book restorations. Tiny plans to take a few vacations and continue her weekly activities of yoga, walking, and Bible study.
