Baptist North Mississippi receives Silver Performance Achievement Award

Baptist North Mississippi has received the American College of Cardiology’s NCDR ACTION Registry-GWTG Silver Performance Achievement Award for 2015. The award recognizes the hospital’s commitment and success in implementing a high standard of care for heart attack patients.

To receive the Silver Performance Achievement Award, Baptist North Mississippi consistently followed the treatment guidelines in the ACTION Registry-GWTG for four consecutive quarters and met a performance standard of 90 percent for specific performance measures. Full participation in the registry engages hospitals in a robust quality improvement process using data to drive improvements in adherence to guideline recommendations and overall quality of care provided to heart attack patients.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention estimate that more than 700,000 Americans suffer from a heart attack each year. A heart attack occurs when a blood clot in a coronary artery partially or completely blocks blood flow to the heart muscle. Treatment guidelines include administering aspirin upon arrival and discharge, timely restoration of blood flow to the blocked artery, smoking cessation counseling and cardiac rehabilitation, among others.

“This award reflects the hard work and dedication of our hospital staff,” said Bill Henning, administrator and CEO at Baptist North Mississippi. “I’m extremely proud of the Baptist North Mississippi team for continuing to meet the quality criteria to save lives and improve the outcomes of heart attack patients.”
