Baptist Union City Service First Champ went more than the extra mile for patient

Skipper Bondurant, administrator and CEO at Baptist Union City, recently recognized Jill Brigance, physical therapist assistant, as the hospital’s Service First Champion for the first quarter of fiscal year 2015. Jill has been a Baptist Union City team member since 1998.

Her nominator was a patient Jill was treating for bursitis. While treating the patient, Jill realized the patient also needed help with the fit of her prosthesis. After doing some research, Jill arranged for the patient to meet with a representative from a company making great strides in prosthetics. The company recommended that the patient come to Huntsville, Ala., for treatment and invited Jill. Jill accepted the invitation. During her four days in Huntsville with the patient, Jill iced down the patient’s sore muscles and spent hours on the phone working out the patient’s insurance concerns.

“I cannot express in words my gratitude for everything Jill has done for me,” the nominator wrote. “Her strength and trust in God are truly contagious, and I will be forever grateful and thankful for her friendship. Jill more than exemplifies the Baptist philosophy of healing preaching and teaching.”
