Mary Millione, an associate professor of English at the Baptist Health Sciences University, was recently chosen as a Service First champion for her willingness to invest in her students and go above and beyond her duties as a professor.
“She encourages cohesiveness in our department,” said Carolyn Green, a member of Mary’s department. “She is always willing to go the extra mile—she picks up birthday cake to celebrate birthdays and decorates our hallway at Christmastime, on her own time. She also makes herself available even after her office hours are over to any student who needs her help.”
Students also had high praise for Mary.
“She always wanted to hear our thoughts and took a personal interest in her students,” one student said.
